Competitions Offered

Jack and Jill (WSDC)

WSDC competitions are restricted to those aged 16 and over at the end of the event weekend. All other competitions are open to those 13 and over the end of the event weekend.

During the 1950s in Southern California, Jack Carey implemented a dance competition without the need to sign up as a couple. He also promoted using a slot for WCS dancing. To honour him, we continue to use Jack and Jill as this contest’s name while embracing inclusiveness with it being gender-neutral.

  • Newcomer
  • Novice
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced
  • All-Star
  • Masters (patrons age 50+)

Conflict of Interest

The BTO takes great effort to eliminate conflict of interest, real or perceived.

  • We restrict Judges from competing in Masters.
  • Judges must recuse themselves from judging anyone of close personal or professional relations.
  • The ED, Chief Judge, Score Keepers, and anyone of close personal or professional relations to them forfeit competing at the BTO without the Chief Judge’s approval.
  • Sponsors are denied competing in a competition division they have sponsored.
  • Anyone attending should report conflict of interest concerns to the Chief Judge.
